The TGA History Office’s guiding principle is to preserve TOPGUN’s legacy via the themes of “Remember, Educate, and Inspire.” In 2023, the TGA History Office embarked on a significant mission – developing, building, and installing our nation’s first comprehensive and interactive exhibit dedicated solely to TOPGUN. This first TOPGUN Exhibit (TGX) will testify to your support. It will be donated to the National Naval Aviation Museum, NAS Pensacola, Florida, ensuring the preservation of TOPGUN’s legacy for generations to come.
Initially, the TGX will display archival and newly developed digital content across three video screens. These displays will include TOPGUN class photos, individual TOPGUN instructor photos, annual TOPGUN staff photos, and memorials on a dedicated touchscreen display (Remember). The second screen will display updated TOPGUN leadership addresses, excerpts from the ongoing development of TOPGUN graduate interviews, and TOPGUN-specific videos (Inspire). Technical and TOPGUN organizational information will constitute the third touchscreen display (Educate). Because TOPGUN is an operational U.S. Navy organization, plans include a digital update cycle to keep the TGX content relevant. Donors at the “Bronze” level or above will, with their approval, be named in a scrolling list as part of the Inspire display. Donors at the “Silver” level and above can coordinate with TGA History to have a memorial display for deceased Patch-wearers on the Remember display. Contact the History office at history@topgunassociation.org for details.
A “Call for Artifacts” will soon solicit additional digital and physical items directly related to TOPGUN’s history. The TGX is expected to be delivered between July and August 2024.
Acquisition of the TGX, development of digital content, and artifact collection and display depends on donor support from those wishing to preserve TOPGUN’s legacy.
